APAC destinations top MasterCard Index

first_imgThis week the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index was released, which saw the Asia Pacific dominating the rest of the world with five of the top ten destinations for international travelers.Bangkok was rated second place, behind only London, and retaining its leading position amongst the Asia Pacific cities.Other Southeast Asian cities showing promising growth rates were Jakarta, Hanoi, Manila and Kuala Lumpur.All of these Asian cities have a projected growth rate of over 13%, which is why they have made it to Asia Pacific’s top ten for international visitors.MasterCard global economic advisor  Dr. Yuwa Hedrick-Wong, said international visitors and their spending are powerful transformational force.“Continued growth of travel across borders reflects a continued interest and desire for new cultural experiences from all geographies, including the growing middle class,” Mr Hedrick-Wong said.The MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index has been released for four years now and the index provides an overview and ranking of the 132 of the most important global cities.Acting as a gauge for understanding the global economy and travel, the index establishes the importance that trade and tourism plays in the world economy.Source = ETB News: Lewis Wisemanlast_img read more
