Flash Flood Watch Remains, Possible Tropical Cyclone Formation

A flash flood watch means that flooding is possible and residents are advised to take extra precaution, and be ready to move quickly if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued. A broad area of low pressure centered about 100 miles south of Jamaica continues to produce an area of showers and thunderstorms over the Caribbean Sea. The area of Low Pressure, has remained almost stationary overnight. Satellite imagery and RADAR reports indicate that most of the showers remained offshore during the course of the night. However, the forecast is for periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, may affect most parishes today and continuing into early next week.  Fishers and other marine interests are advised to exercise caution, as strong winds and rough sea conditions are expected in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms. Upper-level winds are expected to be conducive for some development of this system over the next couple of days and there is a medium chance of a tropical cyclone formation during the next 48 hours. Heavy rains could cause flash flooding and mud slides over the next couple of days as the low remains nearly stationary.center_img Advertisements RelatedFlash Flood Watch Remains, Possible Tropical Cyclone Formationlast_img read more

Georgia Gives Day Builds On Previous Success

Gov. Geoff Duncan On Healing Republican Party The first Georgia Gives Day in 2012 pulled in about $800,000 – a tad short of expectations.  Last year, giving almost doubled.  When the clock struck midnight, nearly $2.3 million had rolled in to support Georgia’s nonprofits. That easily shattered last year’s record. An audio version of this story2:11“We are seeing such incredible momentum year-over-year in the growth of this movement,” said Betsy Reid, a Georgia Gives Day spokeswoman. “And it is such an outpouring of love and caring.”Not to mention, cash.It turned out to be a good day for Wings for Kids, a non-profit that teaches elementary school students social and emotional skills.   “We’re thrilled,” said executive director Denise Blake. “The response to Wings for Kids has been right on point with what we were expecting, what we wanted, and we’re going to leverage that into additional opportunities after the day is over.”The group’s financial goal was $10,000. But equally important, Blake said, is the awareness the day brings.  Without Georgia Gives Day, Blake said that degree of visibility just wouldn’t happen. But not all see the day as a magic fundraising bullet.  An executive director of an Atlanta non-profit, speaking on background, said the day falls at the same time most organizations are starting their own year-end campaigns. He said the messaging can get confusing.Brent Hafele, a fundraising expert and owner of Wisconsin-based NewDay Nonprofit Solutions, said there are potential downsides to being stacked up against similar non-profits.  To some degree, they’re competition. “Non-profits can get lost in the shuffle,” said Hafele.Plus, there’s the potential for confusion when one charity is asking for money through two different channels, he said.  And virtual giving means there’s no face-to-face contact, something Hafele said is essential to building long-lasting relationships.Despite the potential negatives, it’s probably still a good idea to participate, he said. “I don’t see a major downfall.”According to Georgia Gives Day officials, 10 percent of donors made their first-ever contribution to a nonprofit, 17 percent gave to a new nonprofit, and 19 percent donated more than they budgeted. last_img read more

Man United and Chelsea ‘have asked’ for Barcelona player: €65m summer…

first_imgOn the front page of today’s edition of Sport, it reads ‘Stop Rakitic’ as the future of the 30-year-old is in the air. It’s because the former Sevilla man is demanding a new and an improved contract, but the La Liga winners have no plans to offer a new deal.PSG were interested in signing him last summer, but Valverde convinced him to stay at the club. He then asked for a better deal, which was not entertained by the Blaugrana. The Spanish champions’ stance has still not changed as they have no plans to offer him better wages, which is why the scenario could be tense in the coming weeks.Rakitic has put pressure on president Josep Maria Bartomeu to offer him a new deal as he continues to draw attention from several clubs and this includes the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. It is explained Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as the other clubs, ‘have asked’ for the player, knowing that he could be available in the summer. If Barca don’t offer a better deal, Rakitic could ‘consider listening to offers’ as he will have more options to leave after this season.Having already agreed a deal with Ajax for Frenkie de Jong, Sport claims Rakitic’s exit would not be traumatic for Barcelona and they could raise around funds by allowing him to leave. They value him around €65m.The next few weeks will be crucial for Rakitic to decide if he has to stay with his current employer beyond this season or not.by Taboolaby TaboolaSponsored LinksSponsored LinksPromoted LinksPromoted LinksTrending TodayForge of Empires – Free Online GameDon’t Play This Game, it’s Addictive.Forge of Empires – Free Online GameUndoRaid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadEven Non-Gamers Are Obsessed With This RPG Game (It’s Worth Installing!)Raid: Shadow Legends | Free DownloadUndoDating.comWhere do attractive singles meet in Tung Chung?Dating.comUndoPerfect-Dating.comReveal Tung Chung As The Best City to Date for Love & RomancePerfect-Dating.comUndoKeto减肥1個簡單的妙招一夜「融化」腹部贅肉(今晚試試)Keto减肥UndoStanChart by CNBC CatalystWill Blockchain Reduce the Global Trade Finance Gap to Reach the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals?StanChart by CNBC CatalystUndo熱門話題小心會長過頭…網友推爆:「真的長得超誇張!」熱門話題UndoSingles50Hong Kong: A 40+ Dating Site That Actually Works!Singles50UndoCoworking Space | Search AdsThe cost of shared office in Hong Kong might surprise youCoworking Space | Search AdsUndo Ivan Rakitic is one of the key players for Ernesto Valverde at Barcelona.last_img read more

slam against arjun tendulkar on under 16 selection | Pranav Mukherjee…

NEW DELHI: After talks with Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput about suicide, the issue of nepotism is back in India. Cricket fans in India say that many talented cricketers have been excluded from cricket teams in India. Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun Tendulkar has been the subject of much criticism as discussions on social media have revived. Criticism of Tendulkar’s inclusion in the under-16 West Zone squad in 2016 included Pranav Dhanwade. This is the first time four years ago there have been discussions about this. Tendulkar’s son Pranav Dhanwade, who scored 1009 runs in his school cricket’s 327-ball innings, has attracted international attention. The same image that came out four years ago is now roaming the social media. Fans now argue that there is a nepotism in cricket too. Arjun got team selection only because of Tendulkar’s son, excluding real talent like Pranav, and in cricket there is nepotism too – so goes the argument. But if you look at the facts, you will find that the criticism of Arjun Tendulkar is unnecessary. National Zone reports that the West Zone squad is usually comprised of players who play for Mumbai. The innings was set after Pranav Mukherjee broke the record for the Mumbai team. The Mumbai team had already played a few matches. Pranav Dhanwade’s father has come up with an explanation for the ongoing allegations.Pranav’s father Prashant responded that the selection of Mumbai Under-16 team was done before his son scored 1009 runs. Pranav did not get a selection in the team. Arjun and Pranam are best friends. Prashant responded to a national press. From the words of Pranav’s father, it is clear that there is no nepotism in the selection of Arjun Tendulkar. Arjun is currently playing in the under-19s. There have been reports in 2017 that Pranav Dhanwade has not been able to keep his eye on cricket. Later, Pranav got active again in college competitions.
