Sir Patrick Allen, says Justices of the Peace (JPs), who are Ministers of Religion, must begin playing their role of being “purveyors of peace” in a meaningful way.Addressing a meeting of the Hanover Lay Magistrates’ Association, at the Grand Palladium Resort, in Hanover,  on September 30,  he said JPs must come to the understanding that they are commissioned to be peace makers.“So, I urge you to work for peace in your communities through mentorship and community engagements in support of our law enforcement authorities,” the Governor-General said.He suggested that JPs must become an islandwide network of proactive advocates of transformation and is urging those who are active in the church as Pastors, Elders and Deacons to deepen their involvement, not only in the church but in the community.“We cannot sit by idly and wish for other individuals to carry out the responsibility for the transformation of our island…as it is incumbent on me, so it is incumbent on each one of you to assist in making this nation to be the place that we dream about,” the Governor-General said.He also called on JPs who are Principals and Teachers to use the opportunity afforded to them through their profession, to positively influence the youth and members of the wider community.
